According to middle Eastern Mythology, ghouls are evil female spirits in the desert. They are able to take shape of any animals and they live off of the flesh of the dead.
Anyone who is planning to travel across vast deserts or savannas in North Africa, the Middle East or Central Asia, they should be careful because ghouls are known for taking men off of the road and confuse them, when the men are disoriented, the Ghouls then feast on their flesh.

In Arabic folklore, a ghoul is otherwise known as a ghul and it is a terrible shape shifting demon who may appear as a hyena or a hound which opens up graces and feasting on corpses.
They are considered a Devil type of Jinn, sired by Iblis.
In Arabic, this term sometimes refers to a greedy individual.
